Classes at Elder Creek are rooted in the folk record — the plants, the traditions, the people who carried this knowledge forward. Come as you are. No background required.
2026
Herbal History Class — Scott County Museum
First Thursday of the month · 6–7:30pm · Scott County Museum · $15
Aug 6 · Sept 3 · Oct 1 · Nov 5 · Dec 3
A deep dive into one plant a month — its history, its folklore, its place in the Ohio River Valley tradition. Three teachers, one plant, all the things. Every class includes an essay, a monograph, a living plant, a food item made with that plant, and a craft. Proceeds and volunteer hours support the museum.
Creekside Practicum — Herbal Practice
Two weeks after the museum class · Sunday, 2–4pm · Elder Creek Farm · $20–25
Aug 23 · Sept 20 · Oct 18 · Nov 14 · Dec 20
The same plant from that month's museum class, taught again — this time for the working folk practitioner. Less history lecture, more “here’s how I actually use this at my own kitchen table.”
Fairy Garden Workshop
