For the scrape, the sting, and that one overly ambitious onion-chopping session.

Plantain's the backbone of this one — the plant growing in literally every sidewalk crack and yard on the property, and also one of the oldest, most trusted home remedies in the folk record. People have been crushing it fresh and pressing it straight onto a sting for as long as there's been a folk record to write it into. Echinacea joins it, long used in skin care for its restorative reputation. Dandelion leaf, usually thought of as a nuisance weed, has its own long folk history for calming irritated skin.

Bee balm carries a reputation for fighting off what a small wound doesn't need getting into it. Cayenne's in here too, just enough to nudge circulation along — not enough that you'll notice it beyond a faint warmth.

Set in sunflower oil and beeswax, thick enough to hold onto a scraped knuckle or a bug bite without sliding off by lunch.

Ingredients: Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea), dandelion leaf (Taraxacum officinale), plantain leaf (Plantago major), bee balm (Monarda fistulosa), cayenne (Capsicum annuum), sunflower oil (Helianthus annuus), beeswax.

How to use: Apply a small amount to minor cuts, scrapes, burns, or bug bites as needed.

Cautions: Not for deep wounds. External use only.
