Velveteen Touch Baby Oil
Velveteen Touch Baby Oil
For the newest skin in the house, still learning what air feels like.
Chamomile grows low and easy in the beds nearest the house — small white flowers you can pick one-handed while holding a baby with the other. It's been used for centuries to settle what's overwound, in an infant or in a grown woman who forgot how to rest. We steep it slow in sunflower and olive oil until the color turns pale gold.
Comfrey joins it. The old folk name is knitbone, though here it's not for injury — it's for skin so new it hasn't decided yet what texture it wants to be.
Rose softens the edges. Lavender closes it, the way lavender closes most things around here: a full stop, a held breath let out.
This isn't a fragrance oil. It's a working oil, meant for slow strokes down small arms and legs — the kind of touch that says you're safe here before the baby has words for safe.
Ingredients: Sunflower oil, olive oil, chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), comfrey root (Symphytum officinale), rose (Rosa spp.), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia).
Directions: Warm a few drops between your palms. Massage gently onto arms, legs, and torso after a bath or during a quiet moment together.
Cautions: Contains chamomile, related to the Asteraceae (daisy) family — patch test before first use. External use only. Consult your pediatrician before use on broken or irritated skin, or if known plant allergies are present.
