A sweetgum ball — spiked like it means it — set atop a dried yarrow stem in a small terracotta pot. Yarrow's the old wound-herb, the boundary-keeper, used for centuries by people who needed a clear line drawn and the courage to hold it. The sweetgum ball just does what it looks like it does.

Set it by a door, a window, or wherever you want something small and armed keeping watch.

Not all protection needs to be subtle.
